Summary
Security researchers have discovered over 40 streaming sites offering “free” World Cup livestreams that actually serve as scam advertising traps, delivering malware, popups, and redirects. The sites use similar templates, coding, and advertising networks to facilitate scams. They appear convincing, with a video player and a “Watch Live” button, but clicking the button leads to a series of prompts and advertisements.

The scam arrives with confidence.
These “free” World Cup streaming sites are just the tip of the fraud iceberg. They use the same playbook: create a convincing website, load it with ads and tracking scripts, and monetize the rush. The FBI warned fans about fake FIFA websites before the World Cup, and now these streaming sites are taking advantage of the demand.
It’s the oldest play in the scam handbook: take something millions of people want, present it nicely, and collect payment.
And, of course, the scammers don’t even need to create the demand – they just stand in front of it with a bucket and collect.
