Our Reading

The launch follows a familiar script.

Bumble is “moving beyond swiping” to real-world social experiences, because swiping was so 2014. The company is “investing in features” that encourage users to connect in person, a.k.a. what we used to call “dating”. Bumble is also “exploring new ways to monetize” its platform, which is just a nice way of saying “we want to make more money”. And, of course, the CEO is promising a more “immersive experience” for users, because that’s what all the cool kids are saying these days.

Apparently, the “immersive experience” of swiping through potential dates wasn’t immersive enough.
