Costco is known for its anti-inflation rotisserie chicken, the longstanding $1.50 hotdog combo, and a very happy customer base. Now half-off couches can be added to the list. TikToker Rafamatos (@rafavictorazzi) and a group of friends got to experience the Costco appeal firsthand.
The group of four went to Costco and purchased a couch. They nabbed the display couch for half price. In the video, posted over a week ago, the quartet is simply loading the different sections of the couch onto flatbeds for checkout. The caption read, “Never rented a Uhaul so fast in our lives.” So far, the video has racked up 5 million views.
However, commenters seemed less thrilled about the discount and more concerned with the cleanliness of the couch. Users’ concerns ranged from bed bugs to speculating the couch experienced an obscene amount of flatulence and germs. A lot of the comments were humorous but with serious undertones.
It seems Rafamatos got the message loud and clear. In her follow-up video to the post, she is deep cleaning the couch. A commenter under the video asked her how much she paid for the couch. Rafamatos confirmed her bargain. “They said it was 850$ and it ended up being 909$ with taxes!! The original price was 2K$ with no taxes lol,” she explained.
BroBible went to Costco Wholesale and spoke with some staff on anonymity about the half-off couch and some other unknown perks that Costco offers.
The Costco Perks
So can someone go into Costco and ask for the display couch at half price? Not exactly. The only way to get a display couch for up to half off is if that is the last remaining model of the item, and there is no expected shipment. It does not mean that the item is being discontinued. The ship date just may not be known or may be too far into the future.
Yes, the same policy goes for display televisions. The best part is the member gets the discount and the manufacturer warranty. And it still qualifies for Costco’s additional warranty.
Costco also has a relaxed return policy for furniture and other items. “I literally got the cloud couch for only $300 I returned my old couch I had for 4 years and paid the difference I love costcooooo,” one user wrote.
