Summary
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai skipped an analyst’s question about Apple on the company’s earnings call. The question was about the impact of Apple’s privacy changes on Alphabet’s advertising business. Alphabet’s executives did address other questions during the call, including ones about the company’s revenue and expenses. The call was held on February 1.
Our Reading
The launch follows a familiar script.
Alphabet’s CEO skipped a question about Apple, because who needs transparency when you’re a giant tech company? Meanwhile, the company’s executives were happy to discuss their own financials and expenses. The call was held on February 1, and we’re sure the analysts were thrilled to be left in the dark about Apple’s impact on Alphabet’s business.
This is just another example of tech companies prioritizing their own interests over transparency and accountability. And we’re sure it will all be fine, because what could possibly go wrong with a company that’s already in control of so much of our online lives?
But hey, at least they’re consistent. This is the same company that has repeatedly promised to protect our data, only to have those promises broken time and time again. So, go ahead and trust them, because what’s the worst that could happen?
Original Observation
This is just another rebranding of the same old tech company tactics.
