Our Reading
The announcement sounds ambitious.
Aerojet Rocketdyne’s new rocket engine promises more efficiency and power. The RS-18 engine is set to be tested at NASA’s Stennis Space Center. With 500,000 pounds of thrust, it’s a beast. But we’ve heard this before. After all, a “new” rocket engine is just a re-arrangement of existing parts, right? And wasn’t this the same promise made with the RS-25 engine, which was supposed to revolutionize space travel back in the 1980s?
