Meta’s Muse: A New AI Assistant, or Just a Rebrand?
Meta has unveiled Muse, an AI assistant that it claims was built from the ground up. However, the company has admitted that Muse was “heavily inspired” by OpenClaw, a previous AI project. Some of Muse’s workspace filenames and content appear to be directly lifted from OpenClaw, raising questions about the extent of the rebranding.
According to Meta, Muse is designed to offer a more personalized and efficient experience for users. The assistant includes features such as natural language processing and task automation, which are similar to those found in other AI assistants on the market.
Despite the claims of originality, the similarities between Muse and OpenClaw suggest that much of the work was already done. The decision to rebrand the project as a new product may be more about marketing than innovation.
OpenClaw, which was previously developed by Meta, had already laid the groundwork for many of the features now attributed to Muse. The new name and branding may be an attempt to distance the project from past failures or limitations.
