Our reading
The Flair Runner is a sneaker that, in its quest to be both minimalist and folkloric, somehow manages to feel like a design student’s thesis project in sneaker form. It’s not enough to just take parts from other shoes—now they have to be reassembled with the solemnity of a museum exhibit.
And yet, the brand is so confident in its own vision that it’s hiring an artist to turn its store into a gallery, as if the shoe itself isn’t already a piece of conceptual art. The only thing missing is a plaque that says, ‘Please don’t wear this.’
It’s a sneaker that wants to be seen, but also to be understood—like a professor who insists on lecturing you while you’re trying to walk.
