Our Reading
The trend returns with a new name. Adidas’ latest Ultraboost colorways bring to mind the 90s-era “City Series” by Nike, with their bold color blocking and earthy tones. The “Solar” theme feels like a rehash of the “Solar Red” Yeezy Boost 350 V2 from 2016. Meanwhile, the “Botanical” theme is reminiscent of the floral patterns seen in the 2018 Dior x Air Jordan 1 collaboration. The “Utility” theme, with its muted color palette, is a common thread in many recent sneaker releases. The look feels familiar, and we’ve seen this palette before – in the 2000s, in the 90s, and in the early 2000s again.
