Colorado State Has Taken Working From Home Out of the Equation
The defensive play caller has moved into the football facility. The scoreboard remains an uncooperative roommate.

The story
BroBible reports that Colorado State defensive play caller Kenny McClendon has been sleeping at the football facility for two weeks. He took over after Tyson Summer lost play-calling duties during a game; the report leaves the circumstances of Summer’s departure uncertain.

The workplace has finally solved the problem of the commute by consuming the home. At Colorado State, a defensive assignment has expanded to include the hours normally reserved for having an address elsewhere. It is the work ethic of the always-available employee, with a more literal interpretation of available.
There is something reassuringly managerial about the arrangement. A troubled unit, a new person in charge, a conspicuous sacrifice: the organisation now has a visible measure of commitment. Unfortunately, an opponent is unlikely to award fewer points out of respect for how inconvenient the week has been.
Sleeping at the facility may create more time to prepare. It also makes leaving work look like a suspicious lack of ambition. Somewhere between the play sheet and the pillow, being responsible for a defence has become being physically inseparable from it.
Perhaps the next performance review can distinguish hours inside the building from successful stops outside it. Until then, the office has gained a resident. The defence still needs an exit strategy.
