Our Reading
The game followed a familiar script.
Fernandes’ season was a masterclass in creative playmaking, and he’s now got the award to prove it. He’s the seventh different Old Trafford representative to claim the award, and the first since Nemanja Vidic in 2011.
O’Reilly’s breakthrough year under Pep Guardiola earned him the Young Player of the Season award, but he’s got a bigger challenge ahead: adjusting to the World Cup stage.
Fernandes and O’Reilly now shift their focus towards the World Cup, while Manchester United looks to take care of business in the transfer window.
This one felt recognizable early, as Fernandes’ exceptional statistical output saw him emulate legendary top-flight creators Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
Original Observation: The World Cup is where true greatness is measured, not in assists or goals scored in the Premier League.
