Summary
A U.S. rescue expert and 9/11 first responder, Bryan Stern, warned that U.S. counterterrorism strategies are outdated in the face of increasingly sophisticated threats. He criticized the U.S. for failing to understand the tactics of radical groups, comparing the current situation to playing checkers while enemies play chess. Stern, who has worked in war zones for 30 years, said the recent attempted hijacking of a FlyDubai flight by a co-pilot shows the need for better intelligence and vigilance. He also expressed concerns about terrorist networks infiltrating the U.S. through passport holders and the global spread of radical ideology.
