Sneakers so neutral, they’re practically a statement
A gray sneaker that’s more about not standing out than standing out.

The story
Molly-Mae Hague's new Adidas Samba Slate sneaker drops as her previous Matcha colorway sold out quickly. The new design uses a more muted gray palette with white accents.

Our reading
The Samba Slate is a sneaker that looks like it was designed by a person who thinks ‘neutral’ means ‘not trying.’ It’s the fashion equivalent of a person who says, ‘I don’t have a style, I just wear what I like.’ The double laces are like a fashion version of a dad joke—expected, slightly awkward, and only slightly more interesting than the rest of the shoe. The only thing more predictable than the color scheme is the fact that it’s being sold through Asos, where the only thing more ubiquitous than the gray sneakers is the ‘out of stock’ message.
