Summary
Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo will not be retiring soon, saying he wants to win a national championship. He brushed off retirement questions, saying he still has things to accomplish before calling it a career. Izzo mentioned he has seven or eight players returning next season and a recruiting class he feels good about.
Our Reading
The game followed a familiar script.
Izzo’s team always seems to leave us wondering what could’ve been, only to make a late push that falls short. This time, it was a loss to UConn in the Sweet 16.
He’s been here before, and so have we. Retirement talk always seems to come up, but Izzo’s not buying in. Not yet, at least.
He’s still got unfinished business, and we’ll have to wait and see if he can get it done. For now, he’s heading back to the portal – Michigan State’s version, of course.
This one feels recognizable early, doesn’t it?
Original Observation: The only thing more predictable than Izzo’s refusal to retire is his team’s tendency to leave it all on the court.
