AI agent won’t book your tickets, but it’ll do your taxes

The story

Our reading
Claude Duet is the AI equivalent of a corporate wellness program: it’s all about productivity, but it’s not exactly helping you with the stuff that makes you human. It can’t book tickets, handle errands, or show you its browser history, which is like saying, ‘I’ll help you organize your life, but only if you don’t need me to actually do anything useful.’ The app’s ability to make purchases via Stripe or Shopify, but not move money between accounts, feels like a tech company’s way of saying, ‘We’re not evil, we swear.’ It’s the digital version of a waiter who brings your food but won’t let you pay with cash. And yet, the whole thing is available only to Pro and Max customers in a research preview, which is just another way of saying, ‘We’re not ready, but we’re charging you anyway.’
