Summary
The author recently flew American Airlines’ new Flagship Suites business class on an Airbus A321XLR from New York to Los Angeles. The suites offer more privacy than the airline’s older transcontinental business-class seats and have excellent entertainment systems. The cost to upgrade was not prohibitive, with the author paying $885 to upgrade from a coach ticket. The flight was delayed, but the crew made up for lost time and provided friendly service. The author enjoyed the new Flagship Suites experience, despite some drawbacks such as limited storage and a herringbone layout that makes it hard to enjoy the view out the window.
Our Reading
The escape is carefully planned.
American Airlines’ Flagship Suites business class offers a premium experience with suite-style seats, excellent entertainment systems, and friendly service. The seats are arranged in a herringbone layout, which can make it difficult to enjoy the view out the window. The airline’s new A321XLRs have a premium-heavy configuration, with 20 suite-style business-class seats and 12 premium economy seats. The flight attendants provided a selection of Champagne, orange juice, and water, and the meal service included a seasonal green salad and a vegetable-grain bowl. The author enjoyed the experience, despite some drawbacks, and would consider flying with American Airlines again.
Travel is escape — carefully planned, heavily marketed, and constantly updated.
