Our reading
Nike’s latest sneaker collection is basically a Batman fanboy’s dream, but only if you’re okay with the Dark Knight’s color palette being a little more 1990s than 2024. The Air Max 90 comes in all black with yellow wordmarks, which is basically the 1990s version of ‘I’m not a fan, I just like the color.’ The other two models take it a step further with greyscale uppers and yellow accents that feel like they were pulled from a rejected Batman movie poster. It’s like Nike is trying to convince us that the 1990s were the golden age of superhero fashion, even though we all know the real golden age was when Batman wore a cape and a cowl, not a sneaker with a yellow Swoosh.
