Summary
A TikTok user, Brenda Madden, shared a video of her turbulent JetBlue flight, where a flight attendant made a bizarre announcement during the turbulence, saying “Ladies and gentlemen, we’re not coming through. We are not getting up.” The announcement was meant to convey that the flight attendants would not be walking through the aisle to ensure compliance with safety requests due to the turbulence, but it was perceived as unprofessional and unsettling by Madden and other passengers.
Our Reading
The routine arrives with confidence.
The habit of making announcements during turbulence gets a new name: “unsettling.” Flight attendants are instructed to prioritize their safety, but the phrasing could use some work. Turbulence is a normal part of flying, but it’s not exactly comforting to hear that the crew won’t be checking the cabin. Maybe they could just say “please buckle up and prepare for landing” instead of “we’re not coming through.”
