Hackers sent fake alien invasion warnings to thousands of people in Brazil using the country’s emergency alert system. The investigation has shown that the information-stealing malware “Infostealer” infected a Brazilian government IT official’s home gaming PC. The hacker may have used extremely old credentials that the government employee had not updated in many years. Because who needs to update their passwords, right?
