LaNorris Sellers’ class schedule raised eyebrows.
The passer is in his fourth year of the sport and entertainment management program at South Carolina. To earn your degree, you must complete both in-class and real-world tests.
I took two sport internship positions during my stint at the university more than a decade ago, the second of which concluded my studies. There was no in-person classwork. No meetings, quizzes, or tests. Just a weekly review of my experience, which was used as a steppingstone to a professional career.
Sellers is right on track in his degree progress. He’s already held one internship with a local construction company. He’s also been on the SEC Honor Roll all four years of his college stay.
The signal caller is now in the final stage in his eighth semester. He has actually proven a commitment to academics by not having to attend class. He’s earned that right by keeping grades up and credits on track.
Those without knowledge of his situation bashed the light class schedule. Sellers’ coach, Shane Beamer, came to his defense this week.
Sellers provided an update on his internship.
The quarterback is completing his second internship at a nearby golf course where he plans to gain experience in facility management. Some of his job duties include cleaning up the driving range and cutting grass, amongst other administrative tasks.

“NEVER GO IN REVERSE!” That was an issue for Sellers last year. He was sacked at a higher rate than any other SEC quarterback. The Gamecocks gave up 43 sacks to rank 130th in the nation. Compounding the problem was the negative yardage.
Sellers has the ability to turn nothing into something. His knack for avoiding pressure and scrambling 15 yards is part of what makes him great. It made him a household name in 2024. Last year, it backfired.
