Smart Mattress Requires Owner to Stay Awake for Sleep Update

The bed has detected that you are tired and will restart shortly. Please remain available to confirm this.

The mattress began improving his sleep at 2:13 a.m., when it asked him to get out of bed.

To calibrate the occupancy sensor, he had to lie down, stand up, then lie down again without appearing to settle. The app displayed a small animated moon wearing a hard hat. Beneath it: Please do not relax during installation.

At 2:41, the bed requested permission to access his alarm clock. He declined. It explained that permission was optional, but without it the mattress could not guarantee that morning would be supported. He accepted.

The next stage required him to read a verification code from the label underneath the bed. Turning on the bedroom light activated the app’s wind-down warning. He received a second warning for lifting the mattress while a sleep session was in progress.

Customer support suggested lying on the floor until the update completed. The floor did not appear in his device list. He tried to add it manually, but the app required a serial number and the date of his most recent floor purchase.

At dawn, the mattress congratulated him on completing his first night of guided rest. His sleep score was unavailable because he had not slept long enough to generate reliable data.

It recommended an earlier bedtime. The update for that was scheduled for tonight.
